KOZ/ is Tristan Martin’s world for creating physical objects. Mostly wearable.
It sits somewhere between performance gear, personal uniform and art object.
Everything is built slowly in small quantities with an obsession over material, fit and longevity.
The aesthetic language pulls from multiple places at once.
Influenced by the sonic universes of Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Bob Marley, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers & Drake. Shaped by the aesthetic language of Hedi Slimane, Richard Stark, Shawn Stüssy, John Elliott, Dylan Rieder, Brice Partouche and Ken Iijima. Driven by the world-building of Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and Quentin Tarantino.
Visually, KOZ/ is rooted in Vancouver’s concrete, dystopian urban rainforest where wet moss, pavement, glass, and shadow meet forest and fog. Brutalist and dystopian architecture, particularly the work of Arthur Erickson, form the world KOZ/ objects emerge from and are designed to exist within.
Movement is central to the design process. Running through the city and trails, lifting, biking, walking. The daily demands of an active life shape every object. Materials are chosen not just for how they look but for how they perform under sweat, weather, repetition and time.
KOZ/ exists to explore the intersection of aesthetics, performance, place and permanence.
Some objects will be produced in very small runs. Some may never be made again.
Everything is part of an evolving archive. This is not a traditional clothing brand.
It’s a long term body of work.
